Biomedical Lab Technician (m/f)
50%-100%
The group "Mechanisms of Inherited Kidney Disorders" led by Olivier Devuyst is located at the Institute of Physiology - an international biomedical center located on the Irchel campus at the University of Zurich. The close interactions between the research lab and clinical departments at the University Hospital Zurich and working in collaboration with technology platforms at the ETH Zurich represent a major strength creating a highly dynamic environment.
Our group is investigating mechanisms of kidney diseases, a growing health issue in Switzerland. Our translational studies are using molecular and cell biology techniques, metabolic studies and genetics applied on mouse models. Ultimately, our goal is to improve the understanding and the treatment of diseases affecting the kidney.
Your responsibilities
We are taking advantage of animal models and cellular systems and integrate them with molecular and state–of–the art cell biology techniques to develop novel therapies and biomarkers susceptible to improve patients care. We have access to technological platforms (phenotyping, imaging, cell physiology, and functional genomics) and to patient material (European networks, biobanks, and GWAS cohorts). Ultimately, we play an active role in national (ZIHP and Radiz) and European (EUNEFRON; EURenOmics; ERA-EDTA, TrainCKDis) and international (Cystinosis Research Foundation, CRF) networks on rare genetic diseases, and collaborative partnership with pharma and biotech companies in Switzerland.
Your profile
• Completed education as lab technician in biology (junior level)
• Aseptic technique and experience in cell culture preferred
• Interest in DNA/protein techniques
• Interest to work with mouse models: managing colonies, genotyping, sampling
• Precise, well-organized and proactive
• Flexibility and open to learn new techniques
• FELASA certificate would be an advantage
What we offer
A diversified work in a cell culture field with high relevance for health and medicine; opportunity for training and development; flexibility and team work, local and international contacts; competitive salary and benefits according to cantonal guidelines.
