The ETH Zurich core facility NEXUS Personalized Health Technologies enables discovery and translational research for personalized health. We are recruiting a part-time Bioinformatics Analyst for the Clinical Bioinformatics Unit in Zurich to commence immediately or by mutual agreement.


Job description

The mission of Clinical Bioinformatics at NEXUS is to apply expertise in computational biology and statistics to enable biomedical research and development projects. NEXUS collaborates with various academic institutions and Swiss hospitals. Our projects are typically in a biomedical research setting, ranging from basic NGS analyses to clinical decision support and reporting. The primary focus of this position will be the project-specific analysis of diverse high-throughput data sets, including, e.g., transcriptomics and metagenomics. Further responsibilities include development, testing, and benchmarking of new analysis pipelines, as well as the maintenance and extension of existing workflows.


Your profile

You bring an MSc in bioinformatics (or a related field) and have demonstrated experience in biomedical or translational research projects involving molecular data. You have strong programming skills in Python. We expect you to have basic knowledge of R and to be experienced with HPC and version control. We are excited about clinical science and translational research, so you should be too! You should also be experienced in high-throughput genomics/transcriptomics data analysis. Familiarity with metagenomics, immunology, or workflow managers is a plus. Lastly, you should have excellent communication skills in English.
