We are currently looking for up to two postdoctoral researchers who will be working on several research projects in a research group lead by Professor Mats J. Using primarily experimental design (IRL and web-based), we investigate the physiological, perceptual, motivational and emotional processes that promote adaptive behavior in relation to sick kin and strangers.

The position provides an excellent opportunity for transition to career independence and an engaging and international research environment where you will be able to contribute to internationally leading research.

Your mission

The postdoctoral researcher will be based at the Division of Psychology , Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet. The postdoctoral researcher will mainly work with data collection, statistical analysis, manuscript writing, and grant applications. The appointment is for two years, with potentially a possibility for prolongation contingent on funding and performance. The successful candidate will be a part of a productive and dynamic research environment and work closely with the study team to:

  • Conduct ongoing research
  • Design and conduct IRL experiments but also web-based studies
  • Develop analysis plans to test study hypotheses and conduct statistical analyses
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication

Your profile

Applicants must have a PhD in psychology, human behavioral ecology, cognitive science / neuroscience, biomedicine or an allied discipline. The successful candidate must have experience of conducting experiments, data management, collecting and managing biological samples and analysis. Excellent English skills in speaking and writing is a requirement and good Swedish skills are meritorious. Research experience in the field of the behavioral defense, perception (visual, vocal, or olfactory) of social cues (such as judgments of attractiveness or trustworthiness) is also meritorious. The work involves close collaboration with national and international researchers, therefore, collaborative skills within an international context is highly valued.
