Description of the workplace

Welcome to apply for this teaching assistant position with us at Department of Design Sciences. Division of Industrial Design is an interdisciplinary and stimulating environment. Work duties

As a teaching assistant your tasks can vary, and the tasks should give an insight into the academic world at the faculty where you are studying. We are looking for one or potentially more students who want to be part of our teaching and development of our activities within Industrial Design.

The tasks include:
Assisting in the planning of courses, workshops and exhibitions and work in our soft-tool workshops. For example, support students at workshops in Adobe Creator, Illustrator and Photoshop, and in sewing- and ceramics, assist with 3D-printing, and planning and organizing storage.


Qualification requirements

Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes at the faculty may be employed as teaching assistants. You must not have a degree.

Required qualifications:

  • admitted to and enrolled as a student on one of the Industrial Design programs
  • completed one or more courses in Industrial Design.
  • very good oral and written proficiency in English
  • good ability to collaborate and work independently
  • good ability to organize and plan activities
  • contribute in one or more of the following areas:
    • Adobe Creative
    • Illustrator
    • Photoshop
    • Instagram
    • 3D printing
    • textile
    • ceramics

Additional qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Swedish, written and oral.

Consideration will be given to good collaborative skills, being able to drive things forward and independence, as well as how the applicant, through his/her experience and competence, is evaluated to be able to contribute to the industrial design programs.

Further information

The position is a fixed term position for 6 months period at 10 per cent of full time and starting in August or September 2024 or by agreement. The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§.

Employment as a teaching assistant may not correspond to more than 50 per cent of a full-time post. Teaching assistants shall be employed for an indefinite period, however, for no longer than one year. These appointments may be extended. The total employment period as a teaching assistant may not, however, exceed three years. The employment is covered by the Flextime Agreement for T/A personnel.
