Lund University announces a position as substitute senior lecturer in Economic History. The position is for 8 months, starting 1st of April 2024 at the department of Economic History, Lund University School of Economics and Management. The employment is 40 percent of full time.


Subject area and duties

The subject area is Economic History.

The position consists of both teaching and research. Administrative tasks can also be included. Teaching is at the undergraduate and graduate level and will have an emphasis on courses in Development studies, African and Latinamerican Economic History. Teaching in economic history methods is also included. Courses can be in both Swedish and English.   


Eligibility 

To be employed the applicant must have a PhD in Economic History and demonstrated pedagogical skills. She/he must also has completed at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means. The applicant must also hold research expertise in the area of Economic Development and African and Latinamerican Economic History.


Assessment criteria

The School of Economics and Management aims at a balance between research and teaching. Equal importance will therefore be given to scholarly and pedagogical skills when assessing the applicants. Administrative competence is also taken into account.

In the overall assessment of scholarly skills special weight will be given to publications in peer-reviewed journals and in publishing houses with an international peer-review system. Publications on Developing Economies and African Economic History is a merit. Special weight will also be given to experience from international collaboration and participation in research networks. Moreover, the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society and to inform about research will be assessed.

Pedagogical qualifications include training in teaching and learning in higher education, pedagogical experience and pedagogical skills. Experience of teaching on development, African and Latinamerican Economic History and quantitative methods is a merit. Ability to teach in both Swedish and English is a demand.

Consideration will be given to how the applicant's skills and experience can strengthen and supplement the existing research and teaching activities within the Department.
