Department of Game design is located at Uppsala University, Campus Gotland, an international campus in central Visby, a World Heritage city. Here, the best of both worlds may be found: the broad range and influence in education and research of a full-scale university, along with the unique study environment of a small-scale campus.

The Department of Game Design is part of the Faculty of Arts  at Uppsala University. Its teaching and research alike are highly advanced. The Department has some 450 full-time students, roughly half of whom are from outside Sweden, and about 45 employees in various job categories. It offers teaching in game design and development at basic and advanced level, with graphics, project management and programming as minors. All education takes place in English.

To strengthen the Department's education in game programming, we are now looking for a Substitute, lecturer in game design, specialising in programming, at the Department of Game Design at Uppsala University - Campus Gotland.

Duties
The main employment task is teaching but also involves course responsibility, course development, and administrative tasks. Teaching is at the bachelor level in the educational programmes in game design with a focus on courses in game programming using C++. The development work primarily refers to participating and working with courses and programmes in game design. The tasks include following the development within the subject area of game programming and societal development, and actively contributing to both the department's and the university's development. Regular physical presence at the workplace is required to actively participate in the department's work.

Requirements
The position requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or game design with a solid knowledge in game programming. A higher education pedagogical training of at least ten weeks or equivalent knowledge and demonstrated pedagogical skills, and the ability needed to complete the position well. Under certain circumstances a ten week pedagogical traning course can be provided during the employment. The ability to teach in English is a requirement.

Additional qualifications
Documented experience with teaching and administrative work within game design and/or game development fields. Experience in network programming, real-time graphics programming, and AI programming. Experience with owning a game design business and/or doing business in the game design industry. Have a good ability to work together with others, due professional care, experience with a project-oriented approach, and a good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in English. Special emphasis will be placed on pedagogical skills, which means that a pedagogically more skilled applicant will take precedence over a more scientifically skilled applicant.
