The initiative for additive manufacturing at the Ångström laboratory (AM@Å) aims to strengthen research and education on additive manufacturing within the Disciplinary Domain of Science and Technology at Uppsala University. The initiative runs a research infrastructure for additive manufacturing (3D printing) that gathers equipment for the entire value chain from synthesis of precursor materials, via printing, to post processing and characterisation of printed materials.

We are currently in an expansion phase, connected to new long-term funding for equipment and the creation of a national research infrastructure (WISE Additive), where the AM lab at the Ångström laboratory will be one of three nodes together with Chalmers and Linköping university.

You will be an important part of the expansion and running of our AM lab. AM@Å does not lead any research, but you will work with supporting researchers and research at several different departments and research groups, as well as working with people from industry and other academic partners.

  • Responsibility for running and maintaining technical equipment connected to additive manufacturing, such as 3D-printers of metal (possibly also other materials), equipment for post processing, as well as powder synthesis and characterisation. Also some equipment for characterisation for printed materials (such as optical microscopy and X-ray tomography).
  • Responsibility for internal and external assignments, and booking of equipment including reporting.
  • Responsible for purchase of technical equipment, chemicals, and consumables for the lab. This includes procurements, as needed.
  • Chemical manager.
