The recruited person will be expected to approximately teach 20% and do research to 80%.

The availability of data is changing rapidly in healthcare. Information-driven care will make use of all this data, together with data analytics and machine learning, to improve the healthcare system. There are still challenges to address, from pure machine learning challenges to the transformation into information-driven healthcare system. The CAISR Health research initiative at Halmstad University will focus on information-driven care, understanding the whole chain from formulating and prioritizing questions, to algorithms, to data collection, to engagement, to explainability, and to implementation. CAISR Health is a collaboration between industrial partners (such as Novartis and Cambio), Region Halland and Halmstad University.

We are recruiting a senior lecturer associated with CAISR Health with a focus on AI and machine learning. Projects within CAISR Health will cover a broad range of machine learning methods using comprehensive healthcare data for applications such as diagnosis and outcome predictions. Working with heterogenous healthcare data, creating meaningful and interpretable data representations, as well as developing explainable machine learning models will be important for CAISR Health.

AI and ML is an important part of our education. The recruited person will have an opportunity to advance Bachelor and Master level courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Learning Systems, Data Mining, Applied Data Mining, and Deep Learning. The person will also be involved in the Graduate professional development program (second-cycle courses targeted at the business sector). Finally, the recruited person is expected to participate in supervision of thesis projects for bachelor and master level students, as well as co-supervise PhD students.

  • To contribute to academic publications and conference papers (where appropriate leading on these)
  • To contribute to report writing

The applicant must hold a doctoral degree in Artificial Intelligence/Data Mining/Machine Learning/ Information Technology or closely related fields. The applicant must demonstrate a strong, currently active research profile in the above fields. The overall scientific production should be extensive in high quality research journals. Documented experience from innovation, research and development in an industrial environment is also a strong merit, as well as documented experience from working with applications in the healthcare domain.

The applicant should share the value that diversity and equality among researchers and teachers brings higher quality to research and education. Experience in teaching on advanced level in higher education. Pedagogical training in teaching in higher education.

For appointment as a senior lecturer, the following assessment criteria will be applied:

  • Ability to conduct research of high international quality in artificial intelligence, specifically data mining and machine learning
  • Documented experience from research in collaboration with industrial partners and/or interdisciplinary teams
