Do you want to teach courses and conduct research in the exciting field of computer science, together with a dedicated team of teachers and researchers in high quality software engineering, networks, cloud, cybersecurity and privacy?

Background

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science hereby invites applications for a senior lectureship in computer science. We are looking for a candidate with thorough experience in teaching and conducting research in computer science.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science comprises two disciplines, mathematics and computer science, and has more than 90 employees. The research and education in computer science is focused on data communication and distributed systems, cybersecurity and privacy, and software engineering.

The discipline provides four degree programmes on bachelor and master levels. Currently, a new Master’s (120 credits) programme in Networked Systems and Cybersecurity is being developed in order to further reinforce its core areas and to strengthen its international position in education and research. The department works closely with regional, national, and international partners from academia as well as the private sector.

The research is mainly conducted within and jointly between three research groups: DISCO (Distributed Systems and Communication), whose research includes internet protocol, wireless systems, edge/cloud services, and next-generation technology, such as programmable networks, SDN/NFV, and 5G/6G. PriSec (Privacy and Security), focusing on different aspects of cybersecurity such as network security, privacy-enhancing technology, data security and personal integrity. SQuaD (Software Quality and Digital Modernisation), whose areas of study include the design and evolution of security-critical and privacy-critical systems, quality assurance techniques such as testing long-lived systems, and software architecture degradation and other forms of technical debt.

As senior lecturer, you will play an important role in the conducting and developing the department’s courses and bachelor’s and master’s programmes, as well as reinforcing one of the established computer science research groups.  Consequently, we are currently looking for applicants who are interested in participating in, as well as further developing, our bachelor’s and master’s courses and programmes, and who wants to develop and contribute with innovations in our research and doctoral programme.

Duties

Duties include teaching, research, supervision and course administration.

You are expected to contribute with high-quality teaching in computer science courses within the bachelor’s and master’s programmes. You are also expected to contribute to course development and to supervise degree projects on bachelor and master level.

Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to the development of the discipline’s research through conducting high-quality research in collaboration with colleagues as well as with international and national partners. You are expected to contribute to reinforcing our national and international networks. The research is expected to reinforce one or more of the department’s research groups.

You are expected to collaborate with the wider community, strive towards a mutual exchange and to ensure that the knowledge and expertise available at the university benefit society.

In order to contribute to a positive working environment and help further the subject’s activities, we expect you to be a present and active part of the day-to-day operations and workplace community.
