Subject/subject description
IT project management focuses on developing theories and practices concerning management of distributed multidisciplinary teams, among others. It also includes knowledge regarding change strategies for software companies.

Main responsibilities
Main duties as senior lecturer include research, teaching and supervision at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level as well as administrative duties. Examples of courses included here are project management methods and tools, sustainability and aspects of project management, software architectures and business modelling, and software project leadership.

The occupant of the position is expected to strengthen the scientific content and practical relevance of the education in the area of software project management methods as well as in empirical research methods for software project management.

The employment includes own competence and research time, which is stipulated by the local agreement for teachers.

Qualification requirements
Eligible applicants for the position of senior lecturer should hold a PhD in computer and system sciences or have equivalent research skills and have demonstrated teaching expertise.

Teaching proficiency should normally be demonstrated through teaching experience at both the undergraduate- and master’s levels. Teaching proficiency should be well documented and in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities.

The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order successfully to meet the demands of the position.

Excellent English language skills are a prerequisite. Since the teaching is mainly in English, the applicant must have skills in using English in spoken and written communication, to be validated for instance by giving evidence of experience in teaching in English.

Since most of the teaching will be conducted online, the position demands extensive experience in online teaching, digital exams, and thesis supervision online.

Assessment criteria
Special and equal emphasis will be placed on teaching and research skills demonstrated through teaching and qualitative and quantitative empirical research of:

  • software project management methods (e.g., agile methods and Scaled Agile Framework, Software Process Improvement, DevOps and xOps),
  • management of software projects of distributed multidisciplinary teams

Special emphasis will be placed on pedagogical skills in online teaching.

Strong emphasis will be placed on a documented ability to cooperate well with colleagues and fellow researchers.

Strong emphasis will also be placed on documented experience of pedagogical development concerning courses and programs on IT project management at the advanced level.

Emphasis will be placed on administrative skills and proven collaboration with the surrounding society and dissemination of research and development findings.

Emphasis will also be placed on having successfully planned, applied for and obtained research project funds from external research funding bodies.

Emphasis will also be placed on the applicant’s interest in and capacity for renewal of the research area.

Emphasis will also be placed on the applicant’s experience in case-based teaching and learning.

Experience of teaching in Swedish is a merit.

Teaching and learning in higher education
It is a merit to have completed at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.

Additional information
An applicant who does not have at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education, and is not deemed to have acquired equivalent knowledge, must complete such training within the first two years of employment.

Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement for the position, but the applicant has to be ready to take on administrative and pedagogical tasks that demand an understanding and usage of Swedish after two years of employment.
