At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology and Psychiatry and Neurochemistry. The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for a Researcher position at the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry. 

A researcher position at Gillberg Neuropsychiatry Centre (GNC) for research on social perception in neuropsychiatric/neurodevelopmental disorders, using psychophysiology and biosensor technology. At the GNC, research is conducted in the field of neuropsychiatric/neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder/Conduct Disorder (ODD/CD), anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders, intellectual developmental disorder, communication disorders, dyslexia, epilepsy, cerebral palsy and other ESSENCE (Early Symptomatic Syndromes Eliciting Neurodevelopmental Clinical Examinations). Neuropsychiatric research involves studies of individuals who present with neurodevelopmental conditions/ESSENCE across the life span. 


Job assignments

The researcher’s work involves developing research on how people with different types of ESSENCE conditions (see above) visually perceive and respond to social stimuli, especially faces. Collection and analysis of eyetracking data, galvanic skin response and qEEG/ERP in studies at the Gillberg Neuropsychiatry Centre, as well as writing scientific papers in collaboration with the research group.


Qualifications

To be eligible, the candidate needs a PhD in medicine, psychology or other similar field. A requirement is documented experience of research projects in the field of "social neuroscience/developmental neuropsychology", that has resulted in several published peer-reviewed journal articles. Priority is given to candidates who have practical experience in assessing children and adults with neuropsychiatric/neurodevelopmental disorders, and who have experience in collecting and analyzing eyetracking, galvanic skin response, measures of heart rate variability and qEEG/ERP data. Programing skills are mandatory. Basic command of Swedish is needed since the job includes testing with children and adolescents. The ability to cooperate and more general personal suitability is important in the assessment. 


Employment

The employment is limited (temporary) for 7 months, 100% of full-time, and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date; as soon as possible or as agreed.
