The Department of Geological Sciences is a department within the Faculty of Science with courses at master's, bachelor's and orientation levels. The department supports a broad range of basic research within marine geology, geochemistry and classical geology.

Project description
The researcher will investigate igneous rocks from the Yukon-Koyukuk Basin, Alaska, in order to understand their genesis and tectonic evolution. 

Main responsibilities
As a researcher in the project, you will perform laboratory duties, sample preparation and analyses, data synthesis and interpretation, and co-publish the scientific results with the project leader. 

Qualification requirements
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country. 

Assessment criteria
For this one-year contract, we seek a researcher with a PhD in igneous processes and geochronology, or equivalent. Importance will be given to demonstrated scientific skills such as research experience, quality of published work, communication skills, and letters of recommendation. The candidate is expected to have a strong background in petrology, geochemistry and laboratory experience. 

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of 12 months. The employment is financed through funds from the Swedish Research Council for the project on the Tectonic coupling of the Yukon-Koyukuk and Canada Basins. Start date 2023-01-15 or by agreement.
