Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment
We are looking for a person who has  experience in applied sediment geochemistry of phosphorus.
About the position

The researcher within this employment will lead, secure funding and participate in various national and international projects where the tasks are focused on sediment geochemistry, with special attention to anthropogenically affected environments. Applied work with lake restoration where knowledge about sediment geochemistry is vital, along with assessment of aquaculture effects on sediment and environment. Due to the nature of this position, frequent contacts with different stakeholders (agencies, industry, landowners) are needed.


Your profile

You must have a PhD in environmental sciences or related discipline as well as documented experience of postdoctoral work. Furthermore, you must have the following qulifications;

  • Experience with lake restoration (Al-treatment) and assessing aquaculture impacts on sediment and environment.
  • Deep knowledge regarding lake eutrophication and internal P loading.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of phosphorus sediment geochemistry and associated analytical methods (P-fractionation).
  • Lead author for publications in high impact peer reviewed journals.
  • Field experience in sediment sampling.
  • Ability to communicate in written and spoken Swedish and English.
  • Experience in co-creating research questions with relevant stakeholders.

It is a merit to have strong Swedish and European networks.

Emphasis is placed on personal characteristics such as interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work independently. 


About us

The Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment is working with applied environmental science, with a national responsibility for assessing the condition of Swedish surface waters with respect to water chemistry, pollution and aquatic biota. The research focuses on geochemical and hydrological processes, aquatic ecology and biodiversity, microbial ecology as well as on environmental chemistry and aquatic ecotoxicology. The department has some 140 employees, of which approximately half are researchers/doctoral students and the other half are technical and administrative staff.
