Are you interested in working with theoretical studies of phonon spectroscopy, with the support of competent and friendly colleagues in an international environment? Are you looking for an employer that invests in sustainable employeeship and offers safe, favourable working conditions? We welcome you to apply for a researcher position at Uppsala University.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy is one of Uppsala University's largest, with almost 400 employees, of which about 100 are doctoral students. The department conducts world-class research and education in both theoretical and experimental physics and has extensive collaboration with the rest of the world.

The Division of Materials Theory at the Department of Physics and Astronomy is known to have a world-class research environment in the ab-initio computational research on the materials properties. Among the wide range of research activities at the division, a substantial effort is invested into simulations and interpretation of spectroscopic data, including elastic and inelastic scattering of electrons in electron microscopy.

The researcher will further develop our theoretical methods for simulations of electron energy loss spectroscopy of phonon excitations. Researcher will also perform simulations within collaborative projects with our partners from laboratories in UK, USA and China.

The applicant must have a PhD degree in Physics, or equivalent, with a good background in quantum mechanics, scattering theory and solid-state physics.

Additional qualifications
Previous experience in molecular dynamics simulations, simulations of vibrational properties, spectroscopy and dynamical diffraction effects will be considered as an extra merit.

The application should include a statement of research interest, CV, a copy of PhD thesis, list of publications and other relevant materials, if available. Also, letter(s) of recommendation should be included.
