The Department of Business Administration in Lund is one of the leading environments for education and research within the business administration field. We conduct active and advanced research in entrepreneurship, corporate finance, research policy, marketing, organization and leadership, accounting, and strategy. The department has approximately 2,500 students and around 175 active researchers, teachers, doctoral students, and administrative staff.

The researcher will work within the project “New physical retail formats–what are the effects and how to evaluate these new concepts?” funded by The Swedish Retail and Wholesale Council. The project aimsto provide insight into how consumers view new retail formats and also how retail companies argue for introducing these and how these formats are evaluated. This will be done by studying—through interviews and observations as well as analysis of secondary data—consumers opinion and behaviour as well as the insight of different personnel at retail organizations.


Work tasks

The researcher is expected to actively participate in the research project by conducting research (together with the project participants) and thereby contribute to the projects objectives by writing and publishing research articles based on the empirical results obtained. More specifically, the selected candidate is expected to participate mainly in the data collection and analyses using interpretive research. The temporary researcher will be provided with necessary equipment and an office space.


Eligibility / Entry requirements
Requirements

To be qualified, the applicant should hold a PhD degree in business administration in the field of marketing or be at the final stages of doctoral studies.


Other requirements
  • Very high proficiency in English, in speech and writing.
  • Be able to collect and analyze large sets of qualitative data.
  • Documented competence in conducting in-depth interviews, as well ability to draw insights from data by using different interpretive based methods.
  • Experience of working within the social constructivist research tradition (important to be able to collect and analyse data in a relevant way).
  • Good knowledge of literature on marketing, in particular retail marketing and consumer research.
  • Experience in performing empirical analyses using qualitative data analysis software, such as NVivo.
  • Documented competence and experience of studying consumer issues from a sociocultural and critical perspective.
  • Doctoral studies focused on investigating consumers from different perspectives,most importantly from a consumer cultural viewpoint.
  • Experience of writing and presenting papers at various conferences

Merits for the position

Practical experience of working in marketing within industry outside academia in an international setting is a merit as the data collection involves contacts with companies as well (to set up consumer data collection).


Conditions

Limit of tenure (20%), 6 months. The university applies an individual salary setting. Feel free to state salary claims in your application.
