The department (https://www.slu.se/en/departments/aquatic-sciences-assessment/ ) works with applied environmental research and environmental assessment with a national responsibility for monitoring the environmental condition of lakes and watercourses. The research focuses on aquatic ecology and biodiversity, geochemical and hydrological processes, as well as environmental chemistry and aquatic ecotoxicology. The department has about 130 employees, half of whom are researchers/doctoral students and half are technical staff, and is part of SLU's Soil, Water and Environment cluster on Campus Ultuna in Uppsala, Sweden.
Duties:

The position is primarily focused on leading and running the scientific and administrative work within the international monitoring program Integrated Monitoring, under the UN Air Convention. This includes scientific evaluations of environmental monitoring data and various forms of international reporting. The position also includes some vegetation inventory and database management. In addition, the successful applicant will contribute to the department's teaching and supervision of BSc/MSc theses. The researcher is also expected to apply for research grants and to communicate research results.


Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in plant ecology or equivalent, with good knowledge of vascular plants and vegetation inventories. The applicant must have experience in environmental monitoring and analysis of vegetation, preferably within the framework of the UN Air Convention and the European LTER network. Good knowledge of applied statistics, programming in R and experience of managing databases are advantageous. The work requires a very good ability to express oneself orally and in writing in both English and Swedish.
