The research and education areas includes analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic and structural chemistry and materials chemistry, the latter is one of the leading research areas of Stockholm University. MMK is a leading institution in materials synthesis and processing, structural characterization and materials applications. Important characterization methods at the department today are X-ray, electron and neutron scattering, scanning and transmission electron microscopy and various spectroscopic methods.

Project description
This is a one-year position in development of chemical methods for depolymerization of lignin. The research involves electrochemistry and synthesis of bio-based materials.

Main responsibilities
The position involves electrochemistry and structural characterization nanoscopic materials. This will include advanced characterization methods.

Qualification requirements
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills. The selection is based primarily on scientific excellence and experience in the relevant fields.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary group and should therefore be a good team player with experience to supervise students. Applicants must have strong communication skills with excellent knowledge in English, both written and spoken.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of one year. Start date as per agreement.
