Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry . Closing date: 15 August 2021.

The Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry is one of the larger departments at Stockholm University with about 150 employees and about 2,000 students per academic year. The teaching focuses on solid chemistry, material chemistry and modern characterization techniques. The main research areas are porous materials, bio-based materials and electron microscopy.

Project description
The position will be associated with the project Rare-Earth-Based Ionic Liquids funded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). The aim is the development and characterization of new 4f-element and/or 4f-transition metal based luminescent materials.

Main responsibilities
The position involves research in the in-depth characterization of the optical properties of 4f and transition metal-based inorganic-organic hybrid compounds. The work predominately will focus on photoluminescence spectroscopy, i.e. the acquisition and interpretation of excitation and emission spectra, in dependence of time and temperature, the acquisition of UV-Vis-NIR absorption spectra, including spectroelectrochemistry. The successful applicant will be integrated in a international, dynamic, cross-disciplinary researcher team.

Qualification requirements
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
Doctoral degree must be in chemical or physical sciences or engineering and you have at least 2 years of post-graduate experience in the field of chemistry, materials science or solid state chemistry. In the appointment process, special attention will be given to the research skills. Experience in photo- and/or electroluminescence spectroscopy is mandatory. Knowledge on cyclic voltammetry, spectroelectrochemistry, VUV-spectroscopy and other analytical techniques is advantageous. Skills on synthesis and handling materials under inert conditions is welcome. The skills shall be documented through publications, PhD thesis or letters of reference.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment starting from 2021-10-01 (or as per agreement) until 2022-12-31.
