Ref. No. SU FV-2561-22
at the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies . Closing date: 15 July 2022.
The Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies consists of six sections: Archaeology, Stockholm Numismatic Institute, Archaeological Research Laboratory, Osteoarchaeological Research Laboratory, Classical Archaeology and Ancient History, and Centre for the Study of Cultural Evolution. At the department, research is conducted in several different fields and the study programmes have a wide disciplinary profile.
The Stockholm Numismatic Institute with a professorship in numismatics and monetary history, established in 1979, is fully funded with funds from the Gunnar Ekström Foundation for numismatic research. The Institute consists of the professorship, as well as an editorial secretary (75 %). The operation is mainly focused on the 700,000 coins from the beginning of our era to the end of the 1700s that have been found in Sweden.
When the 14th century choir stalls at the Cathedral at Lund were dismantled in the mid-19th century, several late medieval and early modern artefacts were found, among them a series of coins. The project aims at publishing this numismatic material to modern standards and to interpret the significance of the find.
The position is half-time for four months, and is directed towards research. The research shall deal with the coin find at the choir stalls of the Cathedral in Lund.
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

We will especially consider the research plan for the position, where the applicant will outline her/his intentions of the employment.
