The Centre for Eating Disorders Innovation (CEDI) at Karolinska Institutet is an entity at MEB established under the auspices of the Swedish Research Council. Our interdisciplinary work spans clinical, epidemiologic, public health, and basic science and aims to enhance knowledge about the causes, treatments, and prevention of eating disorders.
Your mission
As a research specialist in the field of microbiome and eating disorders at CEDI, you will be a driving force in the planning, study management and analysis work for all ongoing and new microbiome studies at CEDI and their interface with human genetic and epidemiology studies. In the role as a research specialist at CEDI, you will also be involved in supervision and educational activities. This research program aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of genetic and environmental factors that contribute to risk, development, maintenance, and recovery from eating disorders via the study of the human microbiome using several research designs.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.
Applicants should have a PhD in microbiology, genetics, nutrition, or related disciplines as well as a documented post-doc research work in a relevant research area. Experience working with gut microbiome and/or eating disorders research is a requirement. Applicants should demonstrate expertise in NGS technologies, bioinformatics and statistical methods in microbiome research. Demonstrated experience in related wet lab such as collecting and processing stool samples, bacterial DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing etc., is desirable.
Applicants must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, and experience in an interdisciplinary and/or translational research environment. Fluency in English necessary.
