The Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences is one of the university’s largest departments, with operations mainly in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Our aim is to engage in medical and biomedical education and research of high international standing. At undergraduate level the department is responsible for most of the medical program, the speech and language pathology program and the biomedical program. We are looking for a Research Engineer within the department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences. 

Your future work assignments
You will be working on a research study focusing on the mechanism of gradient-dependent retrieval of GPCRs in human platelets and the interaction of platelets with coagulation.Your future work includes various experimental tasks in molecular biology and biochemistry.

Your future workplace
You will work at the Division of Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology , in Tomas Lindahl's research group.The research group is involved in research on basic and clinical studies of platelets and their functions and consists of researchers, doctors, doctoral students and technical staff.

Your qualifications
We are now looking for someone who has a master's degree in life sciences or similar. We see that you have previous experience of research and data management as well as good computer skills and knowledge of MS-office. Documented experience of the following methods and techniques is a requirement for the position:

  • Light transmission aggregometry
  • Flow cytometry
  • Fluorescence microscopy
  • Western blotting
  • Multimod plate reader
  • Pull-down assay
  • Sample preparation for microscopy and mass spectrometry

It is an advantage if you have experience of working with platelets and practical knowledge of platelet isolation and handling. In addition to these, knowledge of cell culture and other molecular biological techniques is also seen as a merit, as well as experience of writing scientific reports and compiling different types of graphs and statistics.

The position requires good knowledge of English in both speech and writing.

Form of employment
Full time, time-limited employment ca. 11 months.

1 July 2022.
