We look forward to receiving your application!

The position

You will perform experimental studies of the effect of compounds on voltage-gated potassium ion channels, with the aim of providing a deeper understanding of the anticipated pharmacological effects. You will primarily work with molecular biology techniques and electrophysiological techniques in cell models. More specifically, you will express ion channel proteins in oocytes from Xenopus laevis, followed by the electrophysiological technique two-electrode voltage clamp to study how ion channels respond to endogenous and synthetic compounds. You will be studying wild type human ion channels and ion channels carrying disease-associated mutations. Your tasks will also include literature studies with focus on newly published research studies of relevance for the project and participation in research group activities such as project meetings and journal clubs.

The person we need

We are looking for someone who has an academic degree in Biotechnology or similar.

Extensive practical experience of electrophysiological techniques to study voltage-gated ion channels is a must. Also, experience with heterologous expression of ion channel proteins in oocytes from Xenopus laevis (including RNA injection, two-electrode voltage clamp, data analysis) is a must. Experience of work with genetic causes underlying channel dysfunction is considered a merit.

The position requires good knowledge of spoken and written English.

As a person, you are structured, self-motivated and initiative-taking. You are motivated and take responsibility for reaching set goals with good quality. You find it easy to work with complex issues and are characterized by good collaboration skills.
