Stockholm University Brain Imaging Centre (SUBIC) is a multidisciplinary infrastructure dedicated to experimental academic research on brain function and structure, as well as other fields of research benefiting from imaging microstructures. SUBIC provides scientific supports to researchers from a range of different departments working in a variety of academic disciplines. One of SUBICs core functions is to provide the community with state-of the-art methods for data acquisition and analysis, as well as provide training.

Main responsibilities
SUBIC is seeking to hire a MR physicist or research engineer to run the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) laboratory, equipped with a Siemens Prisma 3T scanner. The successful candidate will manage and maintain the MR laboratory, provide user support with data acquisition and analysis, as well as provide training. The candidate is also expected to work in research, developing and improving data acquisition and analysis methods. The successful candidate will be encouraged to do independent research in-line with SUBIC’s framework as well as research in collaboration with SUBIC staff, other researchers, and users. The candidate is also encouraged to contribute to the supervision of projects and research students. Finally, as one of the core team members, the candidate will is expected to contribute to shaping the strategic development of SUBIC. Given the profile of the position, social skills and ability to collaborate will be highly emphasized in the hiring process.

Qualifications
We are seeking a person with minimum MSc in physics, engineering, neuroimaging, or other relevant areas is a requirement. Documented expertise with state-of-the-art methods for MRI data acquisition is a requirement. Fluent communication in English is a requirement. 

Assessment criteria

  • Social skills will be emphasized and documented ability to collaborate with researchers across disciplines is very advantageous.
  • Documented experience in optimization and development of MRI methods is very advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently, good problem-solving skills, good organization skills and academic research experience are very advantageous.
  • Documented experience with teaching MRI methods is very advantageous.
  • Documented experience of working with support of clinical imaging is advantageous.
  • Documented experience of working with user support in a research facility is advantageous.
  • Broad experience in data analysis for MRI is advantageous. 
  • Experience with supervision of students is preferred.
  • Fluent communication in Swedish is preferred.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, indefinite-term position with a six-month trial period. An initial work percentage less than full-time position that is, with time, increased to a full-time position can be agreed upon. Salaries at Stockholm University are determined individually; therefore, please indicate your requested salary. Start date immediately.
