Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Laboratory of Medicine, located at Huddinge Campus, is one of the Karolinska Institutet’s largest departments with seven research divisions including Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine (BCM), where the position will be placed.  350 people are employed at the department, half of which are PhD-students. BCM has several core-facilities to support researchers in cell- and molecular biology research and animal facility where in vivo research can be performed.

Portal South at the Preclinical Laboratory (PKL) provides support for importing and exporting alive animals, embryos and sperms for researchers on international level. The facility also offers cryopreservation and re-derivation services. Re-derivation/embryo transfer is a service provided for all researchers who need to import infected mouse and plan their research using these strains in the facility. Furthermore, the facility offers in vitro fertilization (IVF) for those who import embryos or sperms. Cryopreservation, normally used in combination with IVF, allowing the researcher to save valuable strains in our freeze banks to generate alive animals when needed.

Preclinical Imaging Facility (PIF) is a core facility for animal imaging at Huddinge campus and a part of the Preclinical Laboratory (PKL, Karolinska University Hospital, Region Stockholm). PIF is equipped with advanced noninvasive imaging equipment as follows: IVIS Spectrum; Quantum micro-CT; Vevo® LAZR-X; PET/MRI; MOMENTUM Magnetic Particle Imaging. PIF is covering nearly the whole range of preclinical imaging modalities within the same unit.
