A position as a  Research Assistant in Population genomics is available at the Department of Ecology and Genetics, Program in Plant Ecology and Evolution.

Project description: We have recently shown that downy birch (Betula pubescens) is an autopolyploid  that descends from the ancestor of silver birch (Betula pendula). We have also shown that the downy birch hybridize with other birch species. In the present project one will analyze gene expression in  both downy birch (Betula pubescens) and silver birch (Betula pendula) under different environmental conditions.

Duties: The TA will analyze these gene expression data and write down the results.

Qualifications required: Master in bioinformatics or equivalent. Candidates must be able to express themselves very well in spoken as well as written English.

We attach great importance to personal qualities such as ability to cooperate.

Qualifications desired: Experience in the following programming languages (bash, Perl, Python, C, R) will be advantageous.
