The Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) is a leading international centre in sustainability science for biosphere stewardship, at the Stockholm University, that works with interdisciplinary research, teaching and collaboration on resilience and sustainable development. SRC is a young and dynamic organization with many international collaborations. In total, SRC has about 135 members of staff.

Program description
One of SRC's growing research areas is about how our food system can become more sustainable and just. Beginning in 2022, we are now developing a small research program that aims to deliver knowledge on how both the Swedish and the global food system can be transformed into a system that is economically, socially and environmentally sustainable, and resilient, while also delivering healthy food. The focus will be on identifying important connections between people, planet and the food system, leverage points in the food system, and key actors who can unleash transformative potential. We will work with justice and gastronomy as two overarching themes to draw attention to how the transformation of the food system can take place in a way that benefits everyone, whilst helping us find new creative, attractive and innovative solutions for landscape management. We are now looking for more research assistants who can help us realize this ambitious research agenda.

Main responsibilities
The tasks will vary depending on specific studies and projects. It could involve compiling existing literature and knowledge that concerns various aspects of the food system in Sweden and internationally. It may also include simpler analysis of policy documents, or assisting researchers to model different components of the food system to map interactions across different scales (from local to global). It could also include collecting input data and building up databases for analysis within different parts of the program.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is interested in food issues that span the social and natural sciences, and who has experience of interdisciplinary work. It does not matter if you do not have experience of all the aspects described above, but you should be able to explain in your application what disciplinary strengths you have, what different types of methods you have worked with and how your specific competence portfolio is suitable for this particular program. Applicants are assumed to have a Swedish university degree (or equivalent degree from another country) in relevant discipline and/or field (e.g. interdisciplinary sustainability research, sustainable food systems, nutrition). Furthermore, the applicant is expected to have very good collaboration skills as well as excellent skills in synthesizing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.

An interdisciplinary background with deep knowledge in the field of food and health and/or food and environment would be an advantage, as well as documented experience of: literature searches and literature compilations, and/or experience of building, working with, or developing databases, and/or experience of working with analysis of qualitative material. It is a plus but not essential that you can work unhindered in Swedish. Likewise, experience of working with R or equivalent type of code for statistical analysis is highly meritorious.

Terms of employment
