The Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) is looking for a Research Assistant/Data Analyst in Economics. As part of the job, you will provide data work support to research projects at the Institute. The position offers great development opportunities for those interested in participating in internationally leading economic research.

IIES is one of the leading research institutes in economics in the Nordic countries and Europe. The institute aims to produce leading economic research on important societal issues. Main responsibilities
Modern economic research is increasingly based on the analysis of large amounts of data. This poses challenges in terms of data collection, management and analysis. We are looking for a research assistant who can contribute with experience and knowledge in data analysis. You will work in close collaboration with the researchers at IIES and will be responsible for managing multiple parallel projects, documenting your work and delivering on time. The tasks and environment give you the chance to gain significant experience in how leading economic research is conducted.

Qualification requirements
We are looking for analytically minded candidates who are interested in the social sciences and economic research. Computer science, statistics, or other quantitative subjects are relevant educational backgrounds. We are particularly interested in applicants with demonstrated experience in quantitative research, data processing, data scraping, text analysis, data visualization and/or survey administration. Experience in STATA, R, ArcGIS and especially Python software is highly desirable. Experience of field studies in developing countries, especially in East African countries, is an advantage but not a requirement. The working language is English and you are expected to be able to communicate fluently in English both orally and in writing. Applications in English are particularly welcome.

Terms of employment
The position is full-time and limited to 12 months, starting as soon as possible. Starting date according to agreement.
