The Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences is one of the university’s largest departments, with operations mainly in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Our aim is to engage in medical and biomedical education and research of high international standing. At undergraduate level the department is responsible for most of the medical program, the speech and language pathology program and the biomedical program. We are looking for Research Asisstant formally based at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience. 

Your future work assignments
Your duties will to a large extent consist of histological analysis of brain tissue. This includes cryostat sectioning followed by immunohistochemistry (single- and dual-labeling) and confocal microscopy. The work-tasks also include quantitative PCR and genotyping (PCR followed by gel-electrophoresis). To some extent, the work involves handling of experimental animals (mice) and behavioral analysis using video tracking. 

Your future workplace
You will work at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN) , in David Engblom's research group.The research group works with the interaction between the brain and the immune system during inflammation. Mainly, the research takes place with the help of behavioral studies and molecular analyzes in mice.

Your qualifications
For the position, it is required to have completed a laboratory animal course and have experience with video-tracking. Experience with cryostat sectioning, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy are also required.

Experience with optogenetics, RNA-isolation, quantitative PCR and genotyping is meriting. 

The position requires good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

You should be independent, structured and take responsibility for your work.As a person, you are confident and motivated.You find it easy to collaborate with others and can communicate with those around you through a responsive approach.Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

Form of employment
Full time. Time-limited employment 12 months.
