We have an open position for 2 months during the summer in the Team: “Multiomics analyses in cancer” led by Emma Tham, part of the Clinical Genetics research group at the Department of Molecular Medicine, KI located in Bioclinicum.


Your mission

We are looking for a motivated student with at least beginner experience in bioinformatics and computational biology as well some basic knowledge on cancer genetics. The project entails analysing next generation sequencing data from liquid biopsies from cancer patients. The tasks will specifically consist of handling alignment files, performing fragment size and end-motif analysis using established tools.


Your profile

Education equivalent to a degree in biotechnology/biosciences. Some experience in bioinformatic analysis of genetic data. Previous experience in python and R is appreciated, but not necessary. Basic knowledge in command line and bash. Basic knowledge on how to work on high-performance computing clusters and comprehending documentation/tool manuals.

You should be able to organize your work in a digital notebook and document it so that others can understand what you have done. You need to be fluent in English and be able to communicate orally and read scientific literature. We appreciate if you are flexible, adaptable and willing to learn and also test new tools and perform troubleshooting/problem-solving.
