We are mainly working on human postmortem tissues, especially brains and sensory systems, including brains from depressed patients. We are interested in mood disorders and pain. An aim is to find out, if species differences between human and rodents exist, i.e. can results from animal disease experimental animal disease modelsbe translated to humans. We believe that such information is important for defining targets to develop medicines for the mentioned illnesses. 


Your mission

The applicant is expected to direct our small laboratory ordering reagants, taking care of files for samples, perfusing rats and mice and more, performing histochemical processing of tissues including cryostat sectioning, incubations with antibodies etc and microscopy work. 


Your profile

You should have experience in handling animals (mice, rat) and human postmortem tissues, including perfusion of animals with fixatives, dissection of brain and peripheral tissues. Cutting tissues in a cryostat is an essential part of the work. Immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization (RNAscope) as well as qPCR are basic methods in our laboratory. The sections will be analysed in various fluorescence microscopes.
