Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

The aim of the research at the unit Metals and Health is to identify toxic effects of metals in the general and in the work environment, to understand causal relationships between metal exposure and various diseases, and how susceptibility factors influence these relationships. We also study mechanisms of metal toxicity, and we combine in vitro, in vivo and molecular epidemiology approaches. We are now recruiting a research assistant who will work with projects related to mechanisms of particle toxicity.

Your mission

The project is centered upon identifying mechanisms of toxicity/carcinogenicity of different types of welding particles using in vitro models, long-term exposure and toxicogenomic approaches. The employment is temporary for one year and expected starting date is July 1, 2024.

Your profile

To be eligible, the candidate must have:

  • master’s degree in toxicology, molecular biology or similar
  • hands-on experience with cell culture and molecular biology assays, DNA damage assays (e.g. comet assay)
  • expertise in handling and characterizing particles (e.g. DLS)
  • excellent writing and communication skills (English) as well as ability to work in a structured way

It is meritorious if the candidate has:

  • experience working with in vitro toxicity testing for particles
  • expertise with designing and performing toxicity testing after chronic exposure to particles
  • in vitro experience or a strong interest in working with RNA sequencing and bioinformatics
