Research Assistant in Environmental Data Analysis

Updated: 17 days ago

We seek a person with strong quantitative skills and training in environmental sciences who is interested in data analysis and modelling

About the position

The position will involve a number of tasks related to environmental assessment, e.g. hydrological processes, ecological status classification and water chemistry analysis. The tasks will involve data compilation and analysis as well as the setup and application of catchment scale models and reporting. A major part of the position is related to the hydrology of constructed wetlands. The candidate will have the opportunity to conduct field work at multiple sites in Mälardalen to collect the data used for calibration of a hydrological model. This model will be used to simulate the hydrology of constructed agricultural wetlands in a changing climate. Other tasks will contribute to supporting division work on environmental assessment. The successful candidate will work with researchers in the Division of Geochemistry and Hydrology at the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment, SLU Sweden.

  • a Bachelor degree in environmental sciences (or equivalent).
  • good written and spoken English skills
  • valid driver’s license

Relevant experience (Merits)

  • setup and use of catchment scale hydrological models
  • use of tools for model calibration and sensitivity analysis
  • familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of climate scenario assessment
