Position description

Research will be conducted within project FitDrive – Monitoring devices for overall FITness of DRIVErs. https://www.fitdrive.eu/

FitDrive aims to develop practical innovative methods and technological solutions for evaluating driver’s performance i.e., a non-invasive drivers’ monitoring system to monitor mental workload and cognitive load, physical fatigue, and reaction time. Here, cutting-edge non-invasive solutions will be achieved together with data-driven analytics, real-time monitoring based on the combination of Drivers' biometric health data, Vehicular parameters and Vehicle data, and Professional drivers’ Contextual information. MDH is going to lead a work package DRIVER PERFORMANCE AI AND MULTIMODAL MACHINE LEARNING DEVELOPMENT, where main tasks are i) Perform multivariate data analytics using AI and multimodal machine learning; ii) Information fusion based on heterogeneous data sources; iii) Co-learning and reasoning for different driver states; iv) Personalized driver behaviour modelling and prediction. Development of life-long learning model for machine learning.

FitDrive is a H2020 project comprises with 10 different partners from 7 countries in EU.

The position focus is on computer vision, image processing, advanced data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and signal processing, as well as data modeling for mental workload and cognitive load, physical fatigue, and reaction time. The work requires theoretical studies on the state of art, together with software development and testing. As a Research Assistant, you are expected to develop independent ideas and to communicate research results in oral and written form. The employment includes collaboration and co-production internationally.


Qualification requirements

The applicant is required to have a PhD in Computer Science.

  • Knowledge in statistical analysis and life-long learning models in Machine learning is required.
  • Knowledge/experience in artificial intelligence, deep Learning, machine learning, and cloud computing.
  • Experience in programming languages and modeling and analysis tools such as Python.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Knowledge and experience in Recommender Systems Based on Probabilistic Matrix Factorization
  • Experience in teaching and supervision in undergraduate student.
  • Experience in course and program syllabus development.
  • Professional experiences as a research assistant in artificial intelligence and in an EU project.
  • Extensive programming experience is required, e.g., C++, Python, SQL (MySQL), and MATLAB, Tools & Packages: NumPy, pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Spacy, gensim, Pyspark, Gephi, Miro, Jupyter Notebook, Weka, SPSS, Azure ML, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Miscellaneous: Version Control Systems Git/GitHub, Agile Software Development (Jira) and LATEX
  • Ability to collaborate with other researchers as well as work independently.
  • Curious, goal-oriented, flexible, ambitious, and communicative personality.
  • Experience in Peer-reviewed Journals Publications.
  • Research Funding/Grants, Awards & Honours are considered of merit
