We seek one research assistant to work within the project “The Continuation of Conflict-related Violence in Postwar Cities: Mapping violence at the street level” (led by Emma Elfversson and Ivan Gusic).

The project started up in 2020 with funding from the Swedish Research Council and will run through 2024. A core part of the project revolves around establishing a comprehensive dataset on conflict-related violence in postwar cities where events are disaggregated to the street level. This novel data will be used to analyse where within postwar cities violence tends to cluster and, together with in-depth analysis of selected cases, assess theoretical explanations for the variation in conflict-related violence within and across postwar cities. More information about the project can be found here:https://www.statsvet.uu.se/forskning/the-continuation-of-conflict-related-violence-in-postwar-cities/.

The tasks primarily include collection of data but may also entail routine administrative/project management tasks, data analysis and visualization, and miscellaneous writing tasks. The research assistant will report to the project leaders, and work closely with other research assistants and researchers within the project.
