Do you want to contribute to improving human health and contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS) conducts research and education in the field of neuroscience from the molecular level to the society level. The clinical research and education is conducted in collaboration with Region Stockholm as well as other research groups from Karolinska Institutet and other universities.

Your mission

We are now looking for a chemist for a fixed-term employment of one year with a chance of extension.

Positron emission tomography (PET) is a non-invasive molecular imaging technique increasingly used in biomedical research and drug development. A fundamental pre-requisite for PET is the radioactive tracer molecule used in the emission measurement, which can be designed with exquisite specificity to open up opportunities for research into completely new aspects of human physiology in vivo. There is a large unmet need for new PET tracer molecules and your contributions are vital to assist the PET group at Karolinska Institutet in their development. We present an opportunity for you to join a highly engaged team working in the interface between academic and industrial research as an integral part of an extensive collaboration between the PET Group at Karolinska Institutet and AstraZeneca. Your duties will comprise work on the development of new radiochemistry methods and the labeling of new radiotracers as well as on the production of tracers for preclinical and clinical PET studies.

Your profile

We are looking for a skilled and motivated chemist with a PhD in organic chemistry or equivalent, with an interest in life science. Experience in research and/or production of 11C- and 18F-labeled tracers in accordance with GMP regulations is meritorious, but not a must, as is solid knowledge of analysis and analytical chemistry techniques, such as HPLC, GC and LC-MS.

The work at the KI PET group is carried out in a closely collaborative environment involving professionals with multiple areas of expertise. The ability to collaborate and coordinate activities is therefore of great importance. In addition, you must have good knowledge of English in both speech and writing.
