Södertörns högskola (Södertörn University) in south Stockholm is a dynamic institute of higher education with a unique profile and high academic standard. The Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) is tasked with stimulating and developing Södertörn University’s multidisciplinary research and doctoral (third-cycle) education with a focus on the Baltic Sea region and Eastern Europe. CBEES’ objective is to increase the national and international impact of Baltic and Eastern European research from Södertörn University, as well as achieving recognition of the university’s status as a knowledge hub. CBEES is a point of contact, not just within the university, but also for other research environment and the surrounding community. CBEES organises regular seminars, international conferences and summer schools, lectures, workshops, doctoral student meetings and courses, and publishes the Baltic Worlds journal. The research centre has professors, visiting researchers, postdocs, doctoral students and research coordinators. The working language at CBEES is English.

We are now welcoming applications for one or more project-specific researchers at CBEES. We are primarily interested in applications from researchers whose research specialises in Ukraine, Russia and the ongoing war and its consequences for societal development and stability in the Baltic, Eastern and Central European region.


Job description

The duties of a project-specific researcher include research and associated tasks. The duty is to develop research linked to Ukraine and Russia and the effects of the ongoing war on societal development and stability in the Baltic, Eastern and Central European region.

The position includes participation in CBEES’ activities and the presentation of research results at CBEES’ higher seminars. The chosen researcher is expected to work on site at CBEES.


Qualifications

You are qualified for employment as a project-specific researcher in CBEES’ research areas if you have a doctoral degree or the equivalent research expertise in a relevant subject. You must also have the personal skills necessary to meet the demands of the position and to be able to represent the university in a way that benefits its activities.
You must be able to express yourself fluently in English, both orally and in writing.
Research expertise is demonstrated through scholarly publications in the relevant subject area, participation in research projects, research collaborations, and contributions to the development of the subject.


Employment

The position is full-time for 5 months, starting date is 1 August 2024.
