Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Do you have what it takes to expand our reach? We need to recruit more hospitals and more AI companies to our research platform providing testing of AI algorithms for breast imaging. We have internationally well-established research for the development and evaluation of AI for radiological breast cancer diagnosis. Our group has expertise in radiology, biostatistics and machine learning. In addition, we have a strong collaboration with research groups at KTH. Our international collaborations include New York University and Radboud University Medical Center.

Our research

In collaboration between Karolinska Institutet, Lund University, Linköping University and the Swedish Breast Cancer Association, a project is underway with the aim of establishing a national platform for validating and evaluating the accuracy and reliability of commercial and academic AI algorithms in the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer based on mammography images. The project is called VAI-B (validation of AI in breast radiology) and is funded by the Regional Cancer Centers in Collaboration and by Sweden’s Innovation Agency, Vinnova. The goal is for VAI-B to provide a trustworthy external testing of AI algorithms.  Our research group is part of the Department of Oncology and Pathology at Karolinska Institutet, and the research leader Fredrik Strand is a breast radiologist at Karolinska University Hospital.

Since the autumn of 2021, we have been working on VAI-B. We are now looking for a project manager to be responsible for expanding our reach - recruiting hospitals and AI companies. Our aim is to be among the leading academic groups internationally in the area of evaluation and introduction of AI algorithms for breast diagnostics.

Your duties

In collaboration with the rest of the team, you will be responsible for expanding our reach. Currently, there are three Swedish healthcare regions and three international AI companies participating in the pilot for a national validation platform. It will be your task to expand this to include more regions and AI companies focused on breast imaging. You will be responsible for understanding the needs of the hospitals and AI companies, to be the driver from initial contact to signed research agreements, and the continued relationship development.

Qualifications

You are excited about the use of AI algorithms analyzing radiology images to promote health. You feel the importance of ensuring that AI algorithms are transparently evaluated before they are used in clinical practice. You are curious to understand how AI algorithms could differ in terms of diagnostic performance. You enjoy having considerable time to interact with external clients, hospitals and AI companies. You are a person who uses the power of dialogue and questions to identify and develop new opportunities.

We are searching for a project manager who can expand our reach to new hospitals and AI companies.

You will have:

  • An university degree at bachelor level, or higher, in any subject
  • Experience from a role where you were successful in recruiting and interacting with new business or research partners
  • Skills to develop professional presentations and other documents for business or research partners
  • A track record of being diligent in meeting deadlines and deliver what was promised
  • Excellent communication skills in English, and preferably also in Swedish

It is not a requirement, but would be a merit, if you have experience from either of medical devices, computer science, statistics, or consulting work.

We will consider applications also from recent graduates if you have experience during your studies or previous work which is in line with our requirements.
