The Department of Psychology is a creative, international and diverse workplace for education and research in Psychology. Each semester, over 1,000 students are enrolled in our courses that range from introductory level to advanced graduate level. Research is organized within six divisions, with each division being made of a number of research groups.  Currently, the department of Psychology has 50+ ongoing research projects.

Main responsibilities
The project coordinator will provide direct research and administrative support to projects’ team leader, Associate Professor Sabina Čehajić-Clancy. The overarching projects’ aim is to systematically understand and examine the impact of interventions on intergroup reconciliation across different social contexts.  Projects include large-scale longitudinal (online and field) experiments conducted in different countries affected or threatened by intergroup conflict. The project coordinator will be involved in all parts of ongoing research projects. Duties include:

  • Developing, revising and programming online experimental studies
  • Developing and revising registered research reports
  • Assisting with development and revision of stimuli, measures and other elements of study design
  • Translating study materials
  • Creating and managing ethics applications
  • Processing study compensation payments and thank you/debriefing letters to subjects upon completion of study activities
  • Managing datasets
  • Providing basic data analyses and data visualizations using programs like SPSS, Mplus, or R
  • Managing research assistants and interns.

In addition to research support, project coordinator will also provide administrative support. This includes working and communicating with external survey agencies; communicating and working with organizations in the field; communication with projects’ collaborators, organization of travels, small conferences or other events. 

Opportunities will be available to write scientific articles together with the project team members and travel to international conferences and study visits.

Qualification requirements
Required applicant qualifications and abilities include:

  • Completed master-degree in social sciences
  • One year of relevant research experience which can include research education/training or work as a research assistant
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and social skills
  • Excellent command of English (written and oral)
  • Interest in academic/research career
  • Interest in social psychology including conflict resolution, intergroup relations, and reconciliation
  • General understanding of scientific theory and methods
  • Basic statistical skills and ability to quickly learn and master statistical programs
  • Ability to work under deadlines.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Fluency in Swedish
  • Experience in participating in international research projects
  • Research experience in conducting or managing online and/or field experimental studies
  • Research experience in conducting and/or managing longitudinal studies
  • Experience in publishing peer-reviewed scientific articles
  • Advanced statistical skills (e.g., multi-level analyses)
  • Ambitious work-style.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, for a period of 12 months with a possibility of an extension. Salaries at Stockholm University are determined individually; therefore, please indicate your requested salary. Start date 2024-09-02 or as per agreement.
