Work duties

  • Maintaining fungal cultures, preparing agar plates of culture media.
  • Performing fungal metabolite extractions from agar plates.
  • Fabrication of microfluidic devices and inoculating them with soil and fungi.
  • Performing microscopic experiments in the newly developed microfluidic chips.
  • Analyzing, evaluating and interpreting research results.
  • Supporting postdoctoral/PhD projects in the group working with soil and fungal systems in microfluidic chips.
  • Contributing to design and set up of new experiments.
  • Actively contributing to a positive and creative working atmosphere in the group.

Qualifications

  • MSc certificate in Biology or similar, with specialization in forest microbiology/fungal biology/fungal ecology or other relevant fields.
  • Experience in producing and using microfluidic chips.
  • Experience in biological and environmental applications.
  • Experience with work on soil and laboratory fungal strain samples
  • Experience in working with optical/fluorescence microscopy and related image analyses.
  • Very good proficiency in written and communicated English.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with other members of the research team.
