The Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences is one of the university’s largest departments, with operations mainly in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

We are looking for a Principal research engineer in Neurobiology.
The position
Your future tasks will mainly be laboratory and include basic work with cell culture, including work in cell culture rooms and handling of cell lines, stem cell culture and differentiation, as well as cell mutagenesis and transfection. Other possible duties include, after completing internal training for handling of laboratory animals, operating on frogs and handling frog eggs.
The person we need
We are now looking for someone who has a PhD in a field relevant to the position, as well as documented experience of laboratory work with sensitive living material such as cell lines. The position also requires previous experience in advanced cell culture (stem cell culture, differentiation and cultivation of cardiomyocytes) as well as experience in molecular biology techniques such as transfection, cell mutagenesis and cloning. We also see that you have previous experience of supervising students.
Previous experience in handling frog eggs is seen as meritorious.
The position requires very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
You should be self-motivated, structured and take responsibility for your high-quality work. As a person, you are confident and you can solve problems on your own with the help of creative thinking and careful analysis. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can communicate with those around you through a responsive approach. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.
The workplace
You will work at the Division of Neurobiology (Neuro) , in Fredrik Elinder's , Sara Liin's and Antonios Pantazis' research groups, which conduct world-leading research in molecular ion channel physiology. The groups consist of doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers who are located in the same corridor and have a close collaboration. You will have the opportunity to participate in weekly research seminars that are open to all employees. The working time is estimated to be divided equally between the three groups, however your immediate boss will be Fredrik Elinder.
