Principal Research Engineer, formally based in the Organic Photonics and Nanooptics group at the Laboratory of Organic Electronics, department of Science and Technology.

Research area
At the Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE) we explore electronic and optical properties of organic semiconductors, biomaterials from the forest, and hybrid organic materials. We share a common interest in utilizing the combination of electronic and ionic charge for use in healthcare and biology applications, energy, and the internet-of-things. Our research topics include synthesis, material science, theory and modeling, device physics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and system design. Our activities span the range from basic research to commercialization, the latter carried out in close collaboration with the institute RISE. LOE currently has ~150 researchers and research students divided into eleven units, each led by a principal investigator. Read more at

The planned research will entail organic electronics, nanooptics and sensors. The experimental work will include development, construction and characterization of temperature and radiation sensing devices, with focus on interface control and exploration of novel effects. The work may also entail manuscript and report writing.

Applicants should have a PhD in materials science, physics or other field relevant for the position. We seek applicants with strong interest in, and experience of, the relevant fields of the proposed research, in particular temperature sensors, organic electronics, nanooptics and hybrid systems. The applicant preferably has practical experience of topics including fabrication, electrical measurements, optical measurements and combined temperature and electrical measurements. We also value qualifications such as strong ability to communicate and collaborate, analytical ability, motivation and commitment.

Appointment time
The appointment will be for 3 months.

Starting date 
June 2020 or by agreement.

The salary for is based on the department’s salary scale.
