You will be working in a multidisciplinary group conducting research on prevention and management of severe acute infections at the highest international competitive level.   

At the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, Solna, we perform research and education in infectious diseases in close collaboration with the Karolinska University Hospital. The research is translational, and involves clinical, epidemiological and experimental research in areas such as sepsis, pneumonia, meningitis, covid-19, HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, antibiotic resistance, and healthcare associated infections. We offer an engaging and global research environment where you will have opportunities to interact with researchers in other groups through joint seminar series and collaborations. Your mission

As a postdoc you will be central part of a team performing a post-licensing epidemiological follow-up study of the pneumococcal vaccines used in the child immunization programs in Sweden, using national health registers. The project aims to provide evidence on the best child immunization strategies and is an international collaboration between academia and industry.

You will be involved in development of study design, database management, statistical analyses and writing of reports and scientific articles. There is also an opportunity to develop and pursue your own research ideas.

You will work in collaboration with other members of the research group which consists of Swedish and international researchers with backgrounds in epidemiology, infectious diseases, statistics and informatics.

Your profile

We are looking for a curious and motivated person that can work within a team. You should have a research background in epidemiology or statistics and have good skills in data management. You need to know statistical programs such as R, STATA or SAS. An advantage is having worked with health registers and evaluation of vaccine effectiveness.

You need to show a track record of being able to deliver results in time and a high degree of independence is a strong merit. Good communication and teamwork skills is a requisite. Written and spoken fluency in English is a requirement, knowledge of Swedish is beneficial.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna . The department consists of eleven divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The position is located within the research groupof Pontus Naucler in the Division of Infectious Diseases
