Do you want to contribute to improving human health?
Within our multidisciplinary research group you have a unique opportunity to work closely together with cutting edge colleagues in translation of molecular immunology into clinical useful drugs and diagnostics. We offer an engaging environment where you will contribute to high quality design of compounds on an international competitive level.
Your mission
This postdoctoral project revolves around identification and personalized design and expression of disease-specific T-cell targets for diagnostics and curative treatment in our focus areas multiple sclerosis (MS) and cancer. It is mainly comprised of two parts:
The first part involves deep immunological characterization and cloning of disease and antigen-specific T-cells from patient and control samples using a combination of established methods as well as T-cell proliferation assays, flow cytometry and FluoroSpot analysis. The exact methods regarding T-cell vaccination and expansions for adoptive cell therapy will partly be developed during the project. Moreover, in this part you will work on identification and phenotyping of disease-specific T-cell responses in pre-clinical and clinical settings, as well as to confirm previous FluoroSpot results regarding antigen-specific T-cell frequencies.
The second part has a molecular biology focus where you will adopt therapeutic immune design to produce, purify and characterize biomolecules for various applications: autoantigens and virus-based diagnostics and treatment, as well as personal treatment of solid cancer. You will be expected to participate in method development and production at all stages of development of protein-based drugs.
Your profile
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
We are looking for a highly motivated person with the ability to work independently and as part of our multidisciplinary team. As a person, you must be able to collaborate towards common goals.
Qualified individuals are those who have obtained a doctorate in immunology or possess equivalent scientific competence. Extensive knowledge and experience of biotechnological methods are required, and particularly skills in immunobiology techniques including in vitro T cell culture and expansion, cytotoxicity assays, flow cytometry and bioinformatic analysis. Experience of molecular techniques and protein analysis are mandatory. Previous experience of method development, immunohistochemistry and animal models is a merit, as well as knowledge of inflammatory disease, MS and cancer research. Good communication skills and proficiency in both spoken and written English are mandatory.
