Postdoctoral researcher in Extragalactic Astronomy at Stockholm University

Updated: over 1 year ago
Deadline: 02 Dec 2022

One or two (contingent on funding) postdoctoral positions are offered in the group of Matthew Hayes. With recent grants for four new hires, we will focus on identifying and characterizing first-light galaxies, early Active Galactic Nuclei and black-hole formation scenarios, and the impact of these populations on the IGM and cosmic reionization. The positions are related to observational projects obtained under some of the largest campaigns with JWST Cycle 1, HST Cycle 30, and ESO/VLT. LSST access is also possible. The projects will be conducted in collaboration with international teams.

It is expected that the postdoc will contribute to efforts within the group, but there will also be opportunities for the postdoc to develop their own lines of research. Appointment is for 2+1 years. The position offers a competitive salary and generous benefits. Stockholm University strives to be a workplace free from discrimination and with equal opportunities for all.

Applications should contain brief cover letter, a CV, a list of publications, and a research statement of max 3 pages outlining the applicant’s research interests/experience and plans.
