Postdoctoral Researcher in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Chronic Pain

In collaboration with some of the world's leading researchers in the field of pain and psychology, we develop and empirically evaluate individualized interventions in clinical studies using advanced statistical methods. You will join the creative research group of Professor Rikard Wicksell at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS).

In your role as postdoctoral researcher in Dr Wicksell’s research group, you will be responsible for the study “Pain, resilience and disability during the life course”, exploring trajectories of relevance for the development of chronic pain and disability in a large Swedish longitudinal survey.

The project is an integrated part of the DAHLIA program, which aims to increase access to evidence-based treatment through the development of digital behavioural interventions, and early identification of people at risk for chronic pain and disability.

You will also participate in other projects related to chronic pain, resilience and digital health, where you are expected to contribute with knowledge and support related to the studies. Provided that necessary resources are available, responsibilities may include supervision of a doctoral student or master's students. Furthermore, occasional commitment to teaching and delivering external lectures may be required.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with demonstrated experience of independently analysing large databases using statistical packages such as SAS, Mplus, SPSS, R and/or STATA. The successful candidate will have experience of analysing trajectories and has been involved in longitudinal research using national surveys and register data. Given the nature of the project, previous experience from aging research is a merit. Preferably, the candidate should have a good understanding of chronic pain, and the role of psychological and societal (e.g., work related) factors, as well as behavioural interventions such as CBT and ACT. Research experience in the area of digital interventions and behaviour is an advantage.

You must be highly proficient in spoken and written English and Swedish. We are looking for a motivated researcher with a strong interest in further developing our current knowledge about chronic pain and resilience factors, to contribute to early identification and behavioural interventions to promote health. The successful candidate will be an analytical, driven and structured researcher with excellent communication and collaborative skills. Due to the multi-disciplinary environment and close collaboration with academia and diverse healthcare settings, great emphasis will be placed on demonstration of skills to successfully operate in similar contexts.
