Ming Wai Lau Centre for Reparative Medicine (MWLC) is established to further accelerate research in stem cell biology, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, and regenerative medicine. MWLC operates two nodes, one based at KI in Stockholm, Sweden and the other in Hong Kong, located in Science Park, Shatin. The Hong Kong node will include four research groups, initially consisting of a total of 20-30 scientists.

Description of research group and project
The current research of Assistant Professor Sijie Chen aims at developing novel fluorescence based tools and technology for biological research, especially mechanobiology studies. More information at .

A position as postdoctoral researcher is available in the following areas: Bio/Biomedical engineering, Fluorescent bioprobes, Biomaterials 

We are looking for a highly-motivated, creative researcher, who enjoys an interdisciplinary, open and collaborative environment, with the following qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Completion of a PhD or an equivalent degree in Bioengineering/Biomedical engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or related disciplines.
  • A strong publication record in peer reviewed journals.
  • Knowledge of fluorescence, fluorescent probes and fluorescence based techniques.
  • Experience and expertise in one or both research areas of: 1. Design and synthesis of fluorescent materials and/or fluorescent sensors (preferably small organic fluorophores based); 2. Chemical synthesis, biomaterials, and materials characterization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English is required.

The employment
This is a two-year fixed-term position, with the possibility of renewal.

This assignment is located at MWLC, Hong Kong, and the employment will follow local labour laws in Hong Kong.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.
