The Department of Medical Cell Biology at Uppsala University is a strong and international research environment. The department has more than 110 employees, of which about 25 are doctoral students, 10 postdoctoral fellows, and 40 researchers, teachers and professors.

The research group of Gustaf Christoffersson at SciLifeLab/Department of Medical Cell Biology ( ) works to increase the understanding of immune regulatory mechanisms in autoimmunity and type 1 diabetes. The methods used in the lab are different animal models of type 1 diabetes, advanced in vivo microscopy, culture of immune cells from mice and humans, immune staining of tissue from mice and humans and genetic analyses.
