With us, research and education are conducted with an eye towards the future. Our proximity to the business world, both locally and globally, gives us a wide reach and the ability to create change that makes an impact. All that's needed is a place where ideas have the space to meet and grow. That's what we've created – and you are invited.

Change starts here!

The Faculty of Technology offers a broad spectrum of activities across nine different departments and is central to the technical education and research conducted at Linnaeus University. The Department of Forestry and Wood Technology offers a wide-ranging of thematic activities from forest to finished wood products. Benefits for the climate arising from forests lie at the core of all department activities.

Field of subject for the position: Postdoc fellowship in forest products with specialisation in production systems.
Placement: Växjö, Sweden.
Extent and period: The position is available as soon as possible, for duration of two (2) years. Extent is 100%.

Context of position
The need for wood is increasing for many different purposes, while the resource is limited. Therefore, production systems need to use the material efficiently and in a circular manner. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a two-year position with a focus on research that develops future production systems for wood products.

The main tasks include research in wood science with a focus on the analysis and modeling of wood industrial production systems. The work also involves experimental work and field studies. The research examines the development of production systems for products such as timber, furniture, and buildings in relation to industry conditions, the material, and its properties, such as different types of wood. The work seeks technically sustainable solutions to identified challenges.

The production system is considered from a systems perspective, and key issues to address will be aspects of wood from a climate perspective and sustainable construction and housing. The work is carried out in project form with national and international actors, and you will collaborate with research institutions, businesses, and other societal stakeholders.

The work will be linked to several collaborative projects such as The Bridge 2.0, a joint collaborative arena for interdisciplinary knowledge development focusing on forestry, innovation, and sustainable competitiveness, the knowledge environment Green Sustainable Development, and the research profile Sustainable Building with Wood – material-efficient value creation from wood material to buildings.

The position also includes responsibility for research communication, which involves participating in national and international meetings and communicating the results of the work. Publishing both popular science articles and scientific articles are central parts of the work.

In your position, you are expected to actively participate in the institution's environment and network both internally and externally, as well as develop new project ideas and seek project funding. Teaching and supervision, comprising a maximum of 20% of full-time, may be included in the tasks.
