The department of applied educational science is looking for one postdoctoral research fellow with an interest and expertise in educational research. The post doc is expected to focus on a research field connected to one of the department’s research profiles. Application deadline is 15 February 2024.

Job description
An appointment as a postdoctoral fellow aims to give opportunities to new researchers to develop their independence in research after completing a PhD, and to create the conditions for further development. Your main task as a postdoctoral fellow will be to carry out research within one of the department's research profiles in educational work and in connection to one of the research profile's externally funded research projects. There are four research profiles in the subject: RECEUM: Early Childhood Education and Care research; PEPP: Education Politics and Policy; UngÖv: Education Policy and Youth Transitions; and, ARED: Teacher Education, digitalization. Teaching may also be part of your duties, mainly at undergraduate level, but may also occur at postgraduate level. 

The details of the content of the employment will be determined in consultation with the person offered the position.

Eligibility
The candidate is required to have a PhD degree in educational work or areas relevant to educational work. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time when the employment decision is made. Evidence of a completed PhD must have been received by this time at the latest. Primarily those who have completed their degree no more than three years ago will be considered. If there are exceptional circumstances, the doctoral degree may have been completed earlier.

Qualification requirements
Selection of eligible applicants shall be performed according to the following criteria: scientific skills, personal suitability, relevance of the research plan, and previous experience of work and/or research in related fields. Prior research that falls within the framework of one of the department's research profiles in educational work is therefore desirable for the appointment.

The position requires a good ability to express oneself both orally and in writing in scientific contexts. For work within the framework of some of the research profiles, knowledge of Swedish or a similar Nordic language is an advantage. The tasks require you to be flexible, take responsibility and have the ability to work both independently and together with others. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

Employment conditions
The position is a three-year, full-time position and consists of at least 80 percent research and up to 20 percent teaching. The successful candidate shall be based at the department. Starting date to be agreed.
