The Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry has about 160 employees and is within the Faculty of Science. Profiled research are within Materials and Structural Chemistry as well as Analytical Chemistry.

Project description
The aims of the overall project are:

  • Synthesis of metal oxynitride semiconductor nanomaterials and functionalization of their surfaces with functional coatings and chemically anchored molecular metal catalysts.
  • Fabrication of transparent photoanodes based on nitrogen-based semiconductors, which exhibit a higher theoretical solar-to-hydrogen efficiency than Ta3N5 (bandgap 2.1eV), and subsequent production of a tandem cell.
  • Synthesis and structure determination of novel ternary metal nitrides and quaternary metal oxynitrides for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting.

Main responsibilities
The postdoc will focus on materials synthesis and materials characterization. Detailed characterization and analysis with XRD and electrochemical workstation may be important as well as studying surface properties such as XPS and electron microscropy. Partial supervison of PhD and master student will be involved.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
